Credo Advisory proudly supported the Strengthening Peace and Resilience in Nigeria (SPRiNG) programme during a four-day capacity-building workshop, on Conflict-Sensitive Communication (CSC), held in Abuja from August 11–14, 2025.
Organised in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development (FMLD) and funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), the workshops aimed to equip senior government officials and media professionals with tools to communicate effectively on the complex dynamics of pastoral development, livestock reforms, and farmer-herder relations in Nigeria.
The first workshop brought together fifty-five senior officials from the FMLD to enhance their ability to design and deliver culturally sensitive, reform-oriented communications. The second leg of the workshop series convened more than seventy journalists, editors, and media executives from across Nigeria, to encourage more responsible and peace-promoting reporting on pastoral issues.
Participants engaged in scenario-based exercises, expert-led sessions, and interactive dialogues with respected facilitators such as Professor Umaru Pate, Dr. Arthur Martins Aginam, and Zigwai Ayuba. Together, they explored principles of conflict-sensitive messaging, stakeholder engagement, and institutional communication planning.
Dr. Ukoha Ukiwo, Team Leader of SPRiNG, emphasised that effective communication is central to reform success: “Sometimes we set out to do good things, but without conflict-sensitive communication, even well-intentioned reforms can attract unexpected negative reactions leading to unintended consequences. This is why we are partnering with the Ministry to ensure that reforms are presented in ways that build understanding, reduce tension, and foster stakeholder ownership and involvement.
As SPRiNG’s strategic communications partner, Credo provided comprehensive video and photography coverage, produced digital visibility materials, managed media coverage, created social media content, and provided on-site communications and stakeholder engagement support.
““When communication is inclusive and sensitive, it becomes a tool for reform and reconciliation. By supporting SPRiNG and FMLD, we are ensuring that the messages driving peace reach those who need to hear them most.” said Abayomi Afolabi, Senior Communications Specialist at Credo Advisory..
Credo Advisory remains committed to amplifying the voices and initiatives shaping a more peaceful, inclusive, and resilient Nigeria.
