Voices For Zainab

Carolyn Seaman emerges as a steadfast advocate for girls’ education in a world still grappling with inequality and educational barriers. As the Founder and Creative Director of Girls Voices Initiative, Carolyn shares her inspiring journey on the latest episode of Credo Voices, shedding light on the challenges girls and young women encounter.

Carolyn’s journey began with a personal experience—a childhood classmate forced into child marriage—a moment that ignited a determination to dismantle obstacles hindering girls’ access to education. This experience became the impetus behind her commitment to securing quality education for every girl. Established in 2013, the Girls Voices Initiative is Carolyn’s platform for effecting change, already impacting the lives of over 800,000 girls across Nigeria and West African through its Girls Rights Education program. Carolyn’s passion lies in empowering girls to recognize and amplify their voices, advocating for their rights in the face of poverty, social norms, inadequate infrastructure, and violence.

Carolyn Seaman underscores the profound influence of individual action in effecting change. Her dedication to advancing Sustainable Development Goals 4 and 5 has earned her recognition as a champion for gender equality and inclusive education. Credo Advisory Founder/CEO and host of Credo Voices,  Awele Okigbo describes Carolyn Seaman work on the Child Marriage Act as, “critical steps poised to upend the patriarchal social and political systems that prevent women and girls from achieving their potential.”
