On November 13, 2024, the Society for International Development, United States (SID-US), hosted its Annual Dinner at the Washington Hilton, drawing over 800 global development practitioners. For a second year, Credo Advisory served as the event’s official communications partner, reinforcing our focus on highlighting voices, issues, and impact in the international development sector.
The Annual Dinner, a hallmark gathering of NGOs, development agencies, private sector leaders, and innovators, highlighted critical issues shaping the sector. Attendees included representatives from DAI, Tetra Tech, Chemonics, and RTI International.
The event was marked with a networking reception, setting the stage for the presentation of two distinguished awards. The Andrew E. Rice Award for Leadership and Innovation was presented to Aphlyne Turfy Ouma, Founder of Mental Wellness with a Smile, in recognition of her transformative work promoting mental health among vulnerable groups. Her heartfelt acceptance speech underscored the transformative power of mental health advocacy in building resilient communities.
The 2024 Outstanding Leadership in International Development Award was presented to Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, former President of Liberia and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, in recognition of her exceptional leadership and contributions to global development. In a fireside chat with Carrie Hessler-Radelet, President and CEO of Global Communities, President Sirleaf shared compelling insights on leadership, equity, and the shifting landscape of global development.
Leading up to the dinner, Credo Advisory supported SID-US in showcasing the contributions of this year’s sponsors to the global development sector. Our Founder/CEO, Awele Okigbo, emphasized Credo’s commitment to advancing the international development agenda through impactful communication strategies, stating: “We believe in the power of collaboration to create lasting change. Credo Advisory remains committed to using strategic communications to amplify the work of those seeking global progress and sustainable development”.
The SID-US Annual Dinner is more than an industry event —it is a call to action for the global development community to advance sustainable development.
