Across Nigeria’s rural markets, women and young farmers are about to discover what a working freezer, a reliable cold room, or the right financing can mean for their agribusinesses. This is the focus of a new video from Credo Advisory, produced in support of the Energising Women and Youth in Agri-Food Systems (EWAS) programme; implemented by the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI), in partnership with the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet.
EWAS is designed to tackle a persistent gap. Women and young people under 35 continue to face barriers from crop production to processing to marketing, despite making up over 60% of Nigeria’s agricultural workforce. EWAS works to close that gap by connecting solar-powered equipment and services to the communities that need them most. The programme provides affordable financing, hands-on training, and new commercial partnerships that would translate to increased productivity, reduced post-harvest losses, improved incomes, and strengthened food systems.
As the Africa communications partner to RMI, Credo Advisory supported the video production to showcase the potential of the EWAS programme, with its bold mission of creating 5,000 jobs in Nigeria, as part of its broader goal of creating 17,000 jobs overall across Ethiopia and Nigeria, and features highlights from its first convening – the 2026 Boot Camp.
Producing the video entailed conducting multiple interviews, reviewing and refining filmed content, and ensuring adherence to EWAS ethical storytelling standards. “The message had to be clear that it wasn’t just a programme video. It needed to show the potential for real impact in a way that lands with people,” said Dr. Obinna Onuoha, Senior Communications Specialist at Credo Advisory. The result is a short, candid look at what productive use of energy can mean in practice; less labour, more income, and a growing network of women and youth-led businesses across Nigeria’s agri-food value chains. The central message is that solar energy is essential to unlocking inclusive growth in Nigeria’s agri-food landscape.
