Electrifying Nigeria, One Community at a Time
The World Bank provided $350 million loan facility support to the Federal Government of Nigeria to improve electricity access in rural areas through the Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP). Credo was engaged to provide holistic communications strategy support to NEP objectives based on project implementation stages and key milestones.
Strategy & Execution
The project was executed by developing communications plans for the Solar Hybrid Mini-Grids, Standalone Solar Home Systems, Energizing Education Programme components, and gender programming. Print and electronic materials such as audio-visual products, web-based tools, and products, social media, and publications were developed by our Creative Studio. Credo Communications Specialists trained NEP staff on skills development and communications sustainability based on identified skills gaps and recommendations. Other services included technical assistance on outreach events, meetings, workshops, roundtable discussions, town halls, community engagements, press conferences, etc. In addition, there was media coverage and a full-suite communications advisory to the REA management.
Outcome
Credo’s technical communications support enabled NEP to accelerate solar-powered electricity supply to targeted universities and teaching hospitals. This increased clean energy supply for millions of households, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), students, academic/non-academic staff, medical professionals, and patients at federal universities and teaching hospitals throughout Nigeria.
