National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA)

Part of the Federal Government of Nigeria’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic is to provide Nigerians with accurate and timely information on accessing a safe and effective vaccination through the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA). To support this effort, a team of Credo specialists and designers worked closely with the NPHCDA Risk Communications and Demand Generation sub-committee mandated to design and launch a national COVID-19 vaccination campaign across the country. Specifically, Credo assisted with the development of communication messages and products designed to build public trust and foster demand generation for the COVID-19 vaccine.

STRATEGY & EXECUTION

Credo supported the creation of advocacy materials as part of an extensive engagement framework with Federal, State, Local Government stakeholders, private sector partners, and the public. Credo consultants created the agency’s sensitization and community engagement creatives to promote vaccine acceptance and mitigate vaccine hesitancy. Credo supported the Risk Communication and Demand Generation sub-committee throughout the national vaccination campaign with audience-specific content creation in multiple indigenous languages.

OUTCOME

Credo’s technical assistance to the national campaign, event communications, and community town halls helped mobilize individuals, associations, and communities to participate in the national vaccination programme. Credo developed publicity and sensitization materials to support the mass vaccination campaign in Nigeria, culminating in an increase in COVID-19 vaccine accessibility and acceptability.

As of November 2021, it resulted in over five million eligible Nigerians receiving their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination. Three million eligible Nigerians have received their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccination, making them fully vaccinated.

So far, Credo has developed over three hundred (300) public campaign materials comprising: videos, radio jingles, billboards, e-flyers, TV PSAs, and animation. These materials were disseminated across social & traditional media to promote the COVID-19 vaccination campaign.
