Credo partnered with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation through e-Health Nigeria to provide risk and strategic communications technical assistance to the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 (PTF). Credo was charged to support the PTF and its National Coordinator in developing evidence-based public sensitisation initiatives that foster behaviour change to safeguard lives and livelihood in Nigeria. As part of the Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE), our consultants collaborated with over one hundred government, private sector, and development partners to ensure the public and rural communities accessed life-saving information and safety protocols against COVID-19.
Strategy & Execution
Credo facilitated the development and implementation of weekly nationwide and state-specific opinion surveys, which enabled messaging to sensitise target areas. Our Creative Studio developed print, audio, and digital materials with key messaging on government COVID-19 protocols, public advisories, and disease prevention measures targeting key audiences.
Our support included stakeholder mapping, key message development, and a review of engagement strategies. The stakeholders mapping targeted stakeholders, influencers, and third-party advocates such as religious leaders, traditional rulers, health care workers, media personnel, and Civil Society Organizations, across the 774 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Nigeria.
Our Creative Studio and communications specialists produced IEC materials (infographics, social media flyers, explainer videos, 2D animations, radio jingles, logo designs, GIFs, newspaper adverts, presentations, and more in various languages. We spearheaded the PTF Secretariat’s media relations by coordinating all the media appearances of the National Coordinator, interviews, daily press conferences, media stories, opinion pieces, etc.
Outcome
Our firm developed three national communication campaigns; created 246 flyers geared to social media channels, 56 radio jingles, and 16 TV and social media videos. We organised 113 national press briefings, 53 media interviews for the PTF National Coordinator, and the firm devised talking points and key messages in 97 instances for the National Coordinator. In collaboration with the UK cabinet office, we developed 16 national polls and 11 newspaper ads for PTF. Credo monitored the 246 media activities and provided analysis on PTF and COVID-19 news coverage. Our weekly radio jingles reached 138 million people, and the client’s website and social media channels scored almost 114 million digital impressions.
Credo successfully facilitated a national public awareness campaign and supported community mobilisation and behavior-change campaigns to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
