Meeting with the Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors Public Relations Subcommittee

Credo Advisory participated in the Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors (ANED) monthly PR subcommittee meeting hosted by Eko Distribution company in Lagos on May 17, 2018.

The meeting objectives were to present the PSRP nationwide campaign creatives and discuss the Programme’s proposed communications support to enhance Distribution Companies (DisCos) customer engagement activities.

The meeting brought together key executives including; Executive Director, Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors, Mr. Sunday Oduntan, Energy Analyst, World Bank Energy Team, Chinazo Nwaoha and communication executives from 11 DisCos across Nigeria, to assess the campaign materials and validate the messaging relevance for public consumption.

At the meeting, Chinazo Nwaoha explained the goals and objectives of the PSRP and provided contextual information on how the campaign messaging was derived from survey results and analysis from a nationwide survey conducted among electricity consumers in 6 major Nigerian cities in 2017.

Credo Advisory Communications Analyst, Aisha Zubairu outlined the proposed PSRP communications support to enhance DisCos customer relations. She explained that the PSRP team is looking to support DisCos with content to foster customer engagement and educate Nigerians about the power sector, energy conservation and the electricity value chain. She explained that the aim of the communications support is in line with the PSRP communication strategy to improve customer satisfaction.

Noah’s Ark – the PSRP public relations firm, showcased the campaign creatives featuring TV advertorials, radio spots and infographics. Based on favourable feedback and endorsement from participants, the creatives and communication support are now in the final development stages.

The Power Sector Recovery Programme was developed by the Federal Government of Nigeria, in collaboration with the World Bank, to reset the power sector for future growth. The objective of the PSRP nationwide sensitization campaign is to build public trust, ensure message discipline, shape the national dialogue about the power sector, and raise awareness on power sector issues.
