“Train the Trainer” Workshop for the World Bank Funded Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP)

A “Train the Trainer” workshop for the World Bank funded Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP) solar mini grid was facilitated by Credo Advisory.  The training centered on community engagement in rural communities selected to be solar mini grid hosts. The workshop was organised by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) on September 27th, 2018.

The “Train the Trainer” workshop was conducted as part of capacity building efforts to equip REA Zonal Coordinators and Promotion staff with requisite knowledge of the NEP objectives and messaging for first level engagement with community leaders. The workshop resource persons included social, gender and environmental consultations from the World Bank project management unit as well as members of the REA Promotions Department.

At the workshop Credo Advisory explained the NEP solar mini grid community engagement strategy and provided the Zonal staff with resource materials (pamphlets, engagement checklists, etc,.) to guide their interactions as well as to inform and educate community leaders on the project.  This would help facilitate community leadership buy-in and support on the project.  Credo Advisory also developed and shared the survey instruments and questionnaires whose findings will be used to develop tailored communication products for the communities.

The Nigerian Electrification Project (NEP) solar mini grid aims to provide subsidies and/or performance-based grants to private mini grid developers to build solar hybrid mini grids across 250 communities in Nigeria without access to power.  NEP is being implemented by the Nigeria Rural Electrification Agency (REA).

Credo Advisory is the lead communications technical resource for the Nigeria Electrification Project.
