Communicating the Impact of FUNAI’s 2.8MW Solar Hybrid Power Plant

On August 2, 2019, the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo SAN, GCON, commissioned the first solar hybrid power plant at the Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu Alike-Ikwo, Ebonyi State.

As the strategic communications firm providing client support to the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Credo Advisory developed the commissioning press release and ensured international media coverage. The press release was drafted to communicate the project impact of job creation, increased economic activity and improved security from the 2.8MW solar hybrid power plant installation in the host community.  Credo analysts also provided event branding support for the commissioning ceremony with creatives development of rollup banners, stage backdrop banner, event programmes, invitation cards and social media awareness e-flyers.

Speeches delivered by the Vice President, Ebonyi State Governor, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Power, Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, REA Managing Director, and the Vice Chancellor of FUNAI were all prepared by Credo Advisory. The speeches conveyed the Federal Government’s developmental goal to increase access of clean, safe and reliable power to federal universities and teaching hospitals in Nigeria. Also reflected in the speeches was the potential impact of the 2.8MW power plant on the host university and Ebonyi state government’s commitment to provide high quality and inclusive education as well as more job opportunities in the state.

To further drive conversations of the project commissioning on various media platforms, Credo developed infographics and e-flyers to illustrate the impact of the project. Credo also monitored social media conversations surrounding the event; for messaging management and message reinforcement.
