One of the professional highlights of my year was Credo Advisory management nominating me to participate in the Global Communications Alliance (GCA) Peer Mentorship Programme. GCA is a network of independent corporate communications and public affairs agencies worldwide with expertise in executing communications strategies and campaigns for diverse stakeholders. The Peer Mentorship Programme brings together consultants from GCA agencies to foster connections, develop new ideas, and share knowledge on best-practice communications.
I started the programme on March 3, 2022, and I was mentored with Stefanie Dilger, a consultant at Navos in Berlin, Germany. Navos specializes in energy communication and have positioned themselves as one of Germany’s top-rated public relations agencies. The 4-month mentorship programme involved virtual conversations with Stefanie, where we selected clients in the health and energy sectors as case studies to discuss project challenges, including the communications tactics and strategies Credo and Navos adopted to achieve clients objectives.
We discussed communications approaches for COVID-19 vaccination hesitancy in Nigeria, key messages development for public campaigns, crisis communications, sustainable energy communications, and political communications for improved sustainable energy policies. Our sessions were insightful as we learned about the uniqueness of our countries’ regulatory frameworks, business operations and cultures.
The programme ended with Stefanie and me creating a comic strip about our peer mentorship experience. See the comic strip on the GCA website here.
