Honouring Global Development Actors

Honouring Global Development Actors

On November 15, 2023, Credo Advisory attended the SID-United States Annual Dinner, where development actors gathered to network and celebrate award recipients. We joined over 800 attendees at the Washington Hilton for this 25-year tradition. Representatives from international development agencies including USAID, Gates Foundation, Chemonics, Creative Associates, FHI360 and Palladium were present.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of the Award for Outstanding Leadership in International Development to Governor David Beasley, who recently retired as the Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WFP). During his tenure, he raised over $55 billion and helped combat famine, starvation, mass migration, and destabilisation in the Global South. Before joining the WFP, he spent a decade directing projects designed to foster peace, reconciliation, and economic progress as well as serve as Governor of South Carolina from 1995 to 1999.

In addition, the Andrew E. Rice Award for Leadership and Innovation by a Young Professional in International Development was presented to Neema Ayoub Magimba. The Rice Award recognises the achievements of an exceptional young professional committed to advancing the field of international development. Neema is a passionate lawyer, Co-Founder and Head of Legal for Sheria Kiganjani (Law On Your Palm), a digital platform that provides easily accessible and affordable legal services to over 42,000 Tanzanians who cannot access justice due to financial and geographical constraints.

The Annual Dinner also presented an opportunity to engage with peers and collaborators across various international development sectors. Credo provided technical communications support to enhance pre-event promotions as a media partner for the event.
