Episode Introduction

Credo Voices, the podcast where we bring you inspiring stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. I’m your host, Awele Okibo, the CEO of Credo Advisory. If you educate a man, you educate an individual.

But if you educate a woman, you educate a nation. This African proverb highlights the transformative impact of educating the girl child.Every day, girls face barriers to education caused by poverty, cultural norms and practices, poor infrastructure and violence.

According to the United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, 129 million girls are out of school. Ensuring that all girls and young women receive a quality education is their human right and must be a global development priority. In this episode, Credo Voices travels to my home country of Nigeria, where my guest, Carolyn Seaman, is addressing gender disparity in education and empowering young women through her organization. Her important work contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 4, quality education, and Goal 5, gender equality. This is Carolyn in her own words, sharing her story. Let’s listen and be inspired.
