Episode Introduction

Credo Voices, the podcast where we bring you inspiring stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. I’m your host, Awele Okibo, the CEO of Credo Advisory. According to UN Women, only 28 women serve as heads of state or government as of January2024.

At this rate, gender equality in the highest positions of power will not be reached for another 130 years. The data consistently demonstrates that women are underrepresented at all levels of decision making worldwide and that achieving gender parity in politics is way off. Empowering women in leadership is not just about fairness, it’s essential for creating more inclusive and effective governance systems.

Credo Voices travels to France, where our guest, Alice Apostoly, is championing a paradigm shift towards gender representation in geopolitics. Through her organization, Institut du Genre en Géopolitique, the Gender and Geopolitics Institute, she’s advancing Sustainable Development Goals 5, gender equality. Headquartered in Paris, Alice manages over 70 volunteers advocating for gender-focused policies and gender inclusion in government.
